Program Preload
Designed to minimise risk of jack-up rig punch-through

"In its mildest form, a jack-up punch-through does nothing more than quicken pulses and generate nervous glances around the rig. At its most violent, a punch-through can be terrifying and even deadly. The rig falling, lurching out of control. Loose gear crashing across decks; steel tortured beyond endurance, emitting ear-splitting screeches and explosive bangs as leg chords snap; the alarming order to muster and prepare to abandon what moments before had been to all senses a solid, safe habitat perched above the sea." (Offshore Rig Newsletter – Volume 23, Number 9)

Program Preload™ is a groundbreaking software development from MatthewsDaniel, designed to assist the offshore oil and gas industry in reducing the risk of uncontrolled rapid leg penetrations of jack-up offshore mobile drilling units, more commonly known as 'Punch-Through'. It is utilised during preloading, the most critical phase of going on location. Monitoring information on a 'real-time' basis provides a valuable tool to assist the rig mover in the safe siting of the unit.

Program Preload™ Simulator Training

With real time simulation of rig preloading and punch-through, MatthewsDaniel offers a unique opportunity for the offshore oil and gas industry to train rig movers and other qualified personnel. Using the Program Preload™ Simulator, participants can fully replicate the activities of going on location, jacking-up to minimum air gap and commencing the preload process.

The Simulator is a hydraulically operated, computer controlled device capable of modelling specific rigs and applying differing scenarios relating to environmental conditions such as subsea soil and weather. This dynamic combination enables a drilling company to recreate the preloading of one of its rigs going on to a specific location, where there is a known risk of punch-through, or for training in preloading jack-ups for generic locations on a worldwide basis.
