A Master Mariner, Ian's early career was seagoing, mainly in the offshore oil and gas sector, all over the world, and that experience is a key contributor to his marine warranty expertise. On numerous projects he has been attending surveyor for loadout, transportation and installation phases, in fabrication yards and on tugs and barges, pipe lay and installation vessels. Ian’s expertise extends to condition survey work on most types of offshore units, including FPSOs, FSOs, pipeline and cable laying vessels, both conventionally moored and DP. He has also performed risk and condition surveys for offshore fleets, including drill ships, jack-ups, semi submersibles, platform tender rigs, offshore platforms and other floating assets (both conventional and deep-water), as well as undertaking ship yard and large commercial port risk surveys. Ian also has extensive experience in cause investigation and damage assessment work in the offshore environment, including major catastrophes, such as high profile platform fires and explosions and the sinking of the P36 semi-submersible.
